Dr. Hochman became interested in podiatry because "when your feet hurt or when you can't walk, you lose your independence."
Dr. Hochman, a graduate of Cornell University, was graduated from Temple University's College of Podiatric Medicine, where she was a member of the Stirling-Hasford Honor Society. She did a special internship for geriatric podiatry, was Chief Resident at Pennsylvania State Medical Center and completed a surgical residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Currently, she is a partnership fellow at the Columbia University's Partnership for gender-specific medicine.
A member of a sports medicine medical team, she worked at both the Boston and Marine Corps marathons. "Athletes are diligent and devoted to their sport. This makes them good patients and creates a satisfying relationship for the physician."
Among her interests, Dr. Hochman lists travel and gastronomy as particular favorites. She also plays the viola and enjoys reading historical fiction.
"The feet are the most neglected part of the body, and it's time to pay attention to them."
Running two marathons left Dr. Silver with very sore feet and new interest in podiatry. She graduated from both Boston University and the New York College of Podiatric Medicine Magna Cum Laude. A Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Primary Care Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Silver did her surgical residency at West Essex General Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey.
Although she practices general podiatry, Dr. Silver has chosen to specialize in cosmetic podiatry because "I like making feet look better, I'm good at it, and I really like doing it. Many patients tell me they enjoy coming for their appointments."
In her spare time, Dr. Silver enjoys running with the family dog, fishing with her son and attending Ranger games with her daughter.
"These treatments save limbs and other body parts, thereby radically changing people's lives and the quality of those lives."
Dr. Minacapilla, a biology major at St. John's University, was a dean's list graduate from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a three-year surgical residency at NY Downtown Hospital, which included a three-year rotation in the diabetic foot clinic at the Hospital for Joint Diseases.
Of particular interest, he list two areas. One is sports medicine, where the treatment of injuries and fractures enables the athlete to return to his sport of choice. Diabetic foot care and wound healing also inspire him."
A sports enthusiast and a NY Rangers fan, Dr. Minacapilli pilots his own speedboat.
"I am fortunate because I understand both sides of patient care. No matter what I'm working on, I always see myself as a patient advocate."
Dr. Wendelken is a licensed R.N. as a well as a podiatrist. In addition to his podiatry practice, he is affiliated with the Calvary Hospital Center for Palliative Wound Care.
After 10 years as a podiatrist, Dr. Wendelken became interested in non-invasive imaging. He is an authority on diagnostic ultrasound and is an author, lecturer and podiatric sonography consultant. He teaches, lectures and trains doctors in ultrasound imaging.
Dr. Wendelken has been awarded several patents in the area of diagnostic ultrasound.
